PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. By accessing or using the Canada Game Academy platform ("Service"), enrolling in our courses, or accessing our digital assets, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions, you must discontinue use immediately.
1. Educational Services & Disclaimer
Canada Game Academy provides specialized vocational training in game development, 3D art, and programming.
1.1 Nature of Certification
We are a private training institution. While our curriculum is modeled after AAA studio pipelines, our certificates are not university degrees. We do not guarantee that completion of our courses will result in employment, as hiring decisions are based on portfolio quality, which is the student's responsibility.
1.2 Curriculum Updates
The game industry evolves rapidly. We reserve the right to modify course content, software versions (e.g., upgrading from Unreal 5.3 to 5.4), and schedules to ensure relevance. Such changes do not entitle students to a refund.
2. Intellectual Property (IP) Rights
We respect the creator economy. Here is how ownership is defined within our ecosystem:
2.1 Student Ownership
Any code, 3D models, game mechanics, or artwork created by the Student during the course of their studies remains the sole and exclusive property of the Student. You are free to publish, sell, or commercialize your class projects on platforms like Steam, Itch.io, or the Epic Marketplace.
2.2 Academy Materials
All instructional materials, including video lectures, written documentation, starter project files, and the Learning Management System (LMS) interface, are the proprietary property of Canada Game Academy. You are granted a limited, non-transferable license to use these materials for personal study only. Redistribution or resale of our courseware is strictly prohibited.
3. Enrollment & Financial Protocols
3.1 Payments
Tuition fees must be paid in accordance with the schedule agreed upon at enrollment. Access to course materials may be suspended if payments are in arrears.
3.2 Refund Policy (Strict)
Pre-Start: A full refund (minus a $150 administration fee) is available if requested in writing at least 7 days before the cohort start date.
Post-Start: Once the course has commenced or digital assets have been accessed/downloaded, NO REFUNDS will be issued, regardless of attendance.
4. Hardware & Software Requirements
Game development requires significant computational power. It is the Student's responsibility to procure and maintain a workstation meeting the following minimum specs:
- OS: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2060 or equivalent (Support for DirectX 12)
- RAM: 16GB Minimum (32GB Recommended)
- Storage: 500GB SSD for project files
The Academy is not responsible for software instability resulting from inadequate hardware.
5. Code of Conduct
Our community (Discord and Classroom) operates on professional studio standards. We enforce a Zero Tolerance policy for:
- Harassment, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, gender, or orientation.
- Distribution of pirated software, cracked plugins, or malware.
- Plagiarism or submitting another student's code as your own.
- Doxxing or sharing private information of mentors or peers.
Violation of these rules will result in immediate expulsion without refund.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Canada Game Academy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data (corrupted project files), or goodwill, resulting from your access to or use of the service.
7. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Montreal, Quebec.
